Performance Development Process

Hotel Savant is indebted to various institutions during the creation process for each individual work. Most are created in part through residencies and workshops, sponsored or hosted by spaces that enable the impending production to take place.

Men Go Down was written in residence at The MacDowell Colony. Written in blank verse, the text is an attempt to create a uniquely poetic and fragmented language, reflective of our present ability to decimate words via electronic communication. Workshopped in residence at The Armory, under the auspices of Moving Theater, as well as Abrons Art Center, Part 3 continued its development at 3LD, where it premiered in 2011. Part 1 will be developed through LMCC.
