A PARSIFAL

by Susan Sontag

Directed by John Jahnke

Performance Space 122, New York City
Created in part through workshops hosted by The Public Theater and Chashama.

With this poetic yet terse deconstruction of the Wagner opera, The Hotel Savant staged the world premiere of a Susan Sontag play originally published in the catalogue for "Robert Wilson's Vision", an exhibition of works at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. The work subsequently appeared in the literary magazine "Antaeus" in 1991, a used copy of which Jahnke discovered at the Housing Works thrift store in 2002. The work was presented with the generous permission of the Susan Sontag estate.
